Abstract
The article proposes an eco-narratological, queer, and feminist posthuman analysis of Jeanette Winterson’s novel The Stone Gods (2007). I argue that the novel challenges the traditional linear and progressive tropes of science fiction by employing two narrative patterns—return and deviation—at both thematic and formal levels. The aim is to analyse how Winterson critiques Western anthropocentrism, as well as patriarchal, colonial, and normative oppositional beliefs, through the narrative strategy of the cautionary tale. This critical approach also challenges humanist binary thinking by integrating cultural perspectives with eco-narratology.
